How To Stop Your Cat Shredding Your Furniture

See this content in the original post

Hi everyone, Tim here from Chasing Pristine with another tip while home cleaning

1. Keep Your Cat Away From Furniture - The most important thing you can do to keep your cat from shredding your furniture is to keep them away from it as much as possible.  Move furniture, if necessary, or use a baby gate to block your cat from accessing the area.

2. Provide a Scratching Post - Cats love to scratch, so make sure you provide them with an alternative to your furniture. Consider purchasing a scratching post or several scratching pads that are specifically designed for cats.

3. Use Deterrents - If your cat is still scratching the furniture, try using deterrents such as double-sided sticky tape or aluminium foil. Place the tape or foil on the furniture that your cat is scratching and they will likely stay away due to the sticky, uncomfortable sensation.

4. Trim Your Cat's Nails - Keeping your cat's nails trimmed can help reduce the amount of damage they do when they scratch. Make sure you regularly trim their nails so they don't get too long and sharp.

5. Reward Good Behaviour - Whenever you catch your cat scratching at a designated scratching post, make sure to reward them with a treat or extra love and attention. Doing this will help reinforce the behaviour.

We hope this has helped
